Traveling to Guatemala opened the doors to incredible fusion of volunteering, rich culture, and captivating history. This Central American gem offered a profound and diverse experience for those that were seeking a journey that goes beyond the ordinary.
Trip Details
In Antigua, we practiced English with students at a local school, creating genuine moments of connection and encouragement. Around the shores of Lake Atitlán, we supported women artisans whose handcrafted work carries deep cultural tradition — engaging directly with their community and helping amplify their impact.
Guatemala's rich history was showcased in its awe-inspiring cultural sites. We traveled to Lake Atitlán, a breathtaking volcanic crater lake surrounded by indigenous villages, where centuries of Mayan tradition are alive in the daily life and crafts of local communities.
We hiked up volcanoes, explored coffee plantations, and traverse the serene Lake Atitlán for an encounter with the country's natural wonders.
We immersed ourselves in Guatemala's vibrant cultural scene, where indigenous Mayan traditions blended harmoniously with Spanish influences and we explored indigenous markets, and engaged with locals to gain an authentic understanding of their way of life.
We experienced the allure of colonial towns like Antigua Guatemala, where cobblestone streets, colorful architecture, and well-preserved churches provided a journey through the Spanish colonial history.
